Open Call: Nature and Place – Temporary Public Artworks – Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Arts Office

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Arts Office invites applications from professional artists for a project which responds to the rivers and coastal areas of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown (DLR). This temporary opportunity will take place between November 2026 and September 2027. It is not open to permanent artworks or to fixed installations in the landscape.

There is a strong emphasis on sustained collaboration and engagement; artists should be interested in working with scientific or environmental experts connected to the area or the project’s themes.

Deadline: Wednesday, the 5th of August 2026 at 5 PM

Open Call: New Public Artwork at Oranmore Station, Galway – Irish Rail

Visual artists are invited to submit proposals for a site-specific artwork for the redevelopment of Oranmore Railway Station in County Galway. This commission is part of Iarnród Éireann’s / Irish Rail’s continued commitment to arts, sustainability, and community, and is supported by Visual Artists Ireland (VAI) and Galway County Council.

The upgrade will include a new 185-metre platform, a one-kilometre double-track passing loop, an underpass with step-free access, a dedicated cycle route, and improved passenger amenities. This redevelopment offers a highly visible and meaningful setting for an artwork that reflects Oranmore’s heritage, its changing identity, and its role as a key gateway within the national rail network.

Online Information Session: Artists will have the opportunity to attend an online information session on Wednesday, 28th January, from 14.00 hrs to 14.45hrs. Project managers for Oranmore and representatives from the Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail Design Team will be available to answer questions.

Game of Shrooms is a worldwide annual ‘Art Treasure Hunt’ created by an artist named Daniel Attaboy. Artists from all over the world hide their original mushroom-themed artworks in public places. Then, they give hints (often on social media) for others to find AND KEEP!

You can hide art and/or you can find art!

Game of Shrooms is a once-a-year, worldwide art-N-seek event created by Attaboy. The next Game of Shrooms happens on June 10th, 2023. On that day, artists from all over the world hide their original mushroom-themed artworks in public places. Then, they give hints (often on social media) for others to find AND KEEP!

There appear to be several hidden in Ireland.
