Exhibition: Hats Off – IFA Online Show

International Feltmakers Association (IFA) members were requested to submit headwear-related felted works for the fifth annual exhibition, ‘Hats Off: Online Exhibition 2024.’

All IFA members, whether beginners or advanced in their felting journey, had the opportunity to apply to this inclusive online show. 47 members entered pieces they created using wet and/or needle felting. Two of Feltmakers Ireland’s members have pieces in this online exhibition: Juliane Gorman submitted her wet felted, Oversized Sunflower Beret, and Joanne Turner submitted her Wizard Hat inspired by Terry Prachett’s Discworld series.

On the IFA’s page, click on each hat to learn more about the artist’s inspiration, materials, and links to her social media and website. The variety of headwear is fascinating!

To see all of the felted hats, visit the IFA’s website – https://www.feltmakers.com/hats-off-online-exhibition-2024/

If you are a member of the IFA, there are four hat-related videos commissioned for this year’s AGM, which you can watch on the association’s private YouTube pages – https://www.feltmakers.com/ifa-agm-2024/

Open Call: Felt United 2023

FELT UNITED 2023 THEME: CHANGING SEASONS

This may be of interest to Feltmakers Ireland members/followers:

Nicola Brown and Dawn Edwards warmly invite you to participate in this year’s Felt United theme, ‘Changing Seasons, ’ through the sharing of your felt images pertaining to the theme.

The allure of nature’s changing seasons offers an endless source of inspiration…From the vibrant hues of autumn leaves to the delicate blossoms of spring, each season brings its unique magic and transformation.

Felt United is celebrated on the first Saturday in October, so this year, that falls on October 7, 2023.

Please feel free to interpret the theme in any way that you wish. We are requesting that you please include a short statement along with your photo(s). It’s always interesting for our members to hear from the artist regarding the thinking that goes into making their creations.

We look forward to seeing your felt submissions, and you may begin submitting your images as soon as your felt creation is complete.

Let your imagination bloom and embrace the enchantment of the ‘Changing Seasons’ through your felt art!

Our warmest regards,

Dawn Edwards (USA) and Nicola Brown (IRELAND)
