Exhibition: Two More Days Until ‘Bountiful’ Opens

Only a couple more days until our juried members’ exhibition ‘Bountiful’ opens this Saturday at 3 PM at the Phoenix Park Visitors’ Centre in Dublin.

In the meantime, here are two snippets of wearable art that will be displayed. The exhibition includes wall art, sculptures, shawls, and even a hat!

Exhibition: Three More Days Until ‘Bountiful’ Opens

In three days’ time – Saturday, the 30th – our juried exhibition, ‘Bountiful‘, will open at the Phoenix Park Visitors Centre in Dublin. Pippa Hackett (Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine) will be there to officially open.

We will have the unveiling of our wonderful 20th Anniversary Flower Tapestry on Saturday, too. Thank you to all the members who helped create the abundance of beautiful flowers.

Additionally, our book will officially launch – ‘Exploring Irish Wool for Feltmaking’. So, it’ll be a wonderful day of celebrating our guild and our talents.

Karena has three other pieces in an upcoming exhibition in Brussels! These artworks will be shown at the ‘Dear PrEUdence: A Positive Headspace in the EU’ exhibition. It will be held at the European Parliament in Brussels from the 10th through the 13th of October.

Exhibition: Claire Merry has an Installation at Sculpture in Context 2023

‘Floral Path’ – an installation by Claire Merry in the Alpine House at the National Botanic Gardens, Dublin.

Feltmakers Ireland member Claire Merry has an installation, ‘Floral Path’, at Sculpture in Context. Find her piece in the Alpine House, which is situated near the entrance.

Sculpture in Context 2023 opened on Thursday, September 7th, and will continue until Friday, October 13th.

The show is the longest-running, most prestigious sculpture exhibition in Ireland. Staged annually in the National Botanic Gardens in Dublin, this unique exhibition showcases the inspiring and extraordinary work of both established and emerging artists throughout the magnificent 50 acres of landscaped gardens located in Glasnevin, just three kilometres from Dublin City Centre.

Exhibition: ‘Bountiful’ Opens this Saturday

Feltmakers Ireland’s juried exhibition opens this Saturday at 3 PM. We are celebrating the 20th Anniversary of our founding with a show with the theme of ‘Bountiful.’

To whet your appetite, here is a peek at two of the pieces that can be seen at the Phoenix Park Visitors Centre gallery.

The exhibition runs through the 29th of October and is free to visit.

Exhibition: Feltmakers Ireland Juried Show Opens on the 30th of September

Feltmakers Ireland is excited to announce that on the 30th of September at 3 PM, Pippa Hackett, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, will open our group exhibition, ‘Bountiful’.

This juried art exhibition will be held in the beautiful Phoenix Park Visitors Centre from the 30th of September through the 29th of October, from 10 AM until 4 PM.

There are over 35 pieces by 28 guild members in the show. In addition, we will unveil our collectively created Floral Tapestry to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. Copies of our book, ‘Exploring Irish Wool for Feltmaking’, will also be available.

Members who have a piece in the show, please contact us about invigilating. All members are welcome to help by volunteering for the show. Bring a small ‘felty’ project to work on because it will truly interest visitors.

Exhibition: Sculpture in Context at the National Botanic Gardens

Sculpture in Context is the largest sculpture exhibition in Ireland. Showcasing sculpture for over 35 years, this annual event is organised by Sculpture in Context, an artist-led organisation, in association with the Office of Public Works and the National Botanic Gardens.

Bringing together the work of more than 120 artists using a wide range of media, these works of art represent the rich, diverse character of Irish and International contemporary sculpture. From the smallest, most intricate ceramic works to stone sculptures of monumental scale, visitors to the exhibition will be enriched by the experience of viewing such inspiring works in one location.

The show includes the works of some of Feltmakers Ireland’s members. Amongst these are installations by Fiona Leech and Leiko Uchiyama. (Both links are to their Instagram pages).

Note: Unfortunately, an unethical and malicious person stole two of Fiona’s pieces from her installation the morning that she installed them. If you know of these art pieces’ whereabouts, please contact Fiona.)

Sculpture in Context runs from Thursday, the 7th of September, to Friday, the 13th of October.

Event: Dublin Maker This Saturday

Dublin Maker is a free-to-attend, community-run event, which will be held on Saturday, September 2nd, in Richmond Barracks, Inchicore, Dublin. Note: This year, it is in a new venue and will be mostly indoors. So, the weather is less of an issue!

Dublin Maker takes the form of a “show and tell” experience, where inventors/makers sourced through an open call have an opportunity to showcase their creations at individual booths in a carnival atmosphere.

Time: from 10 AM to 6 PM.

Several Feltmakers Ireland members have booths at this indoor event, including Annika Berglund, Juliane Gorman, and Constance Seymour (Cons Creations).

If you are a Guild member, please let us know if we missed you.

In addition, other members of the local fibre community will be demonstrating, such as the Irish Guild of the Weavers, Spinners & Dyers, and Ryan Koenig Studio – Arran Knitting.

Note: This coming weekend, the Red Line Luas has repair work scheduled, with no trams
running from Heuston and Blackhorse. There will be a replacement bus

The ‘Bountiful’ member exhibition deadline has been extended to Sunday, the 3rd of September, at MIDNIGHT.

Applications are open to Feltmakers Ireland AND Feltmakers North members for our annual juried exhibition in the Phoenix Park Visitors’ Centre. This will be an All Ireland exhibition.

The deadline to apply to our members’ exhibition, ‘Bountiful’, is VERY soon!

Applications are now open to Feltmakers Ireland AND Feltmakers North members for our annual juried exhibition in the Phoenix Park Visitors’ Centre. This will be an All Ireland exhibition.

Paid-up members of Feltmakers Ireland are invited to apply to our annual juried exhibition in the Phoenix Park Visitors’ Centre. The theme is Bountiful, which you may interpret in any way that you wish.
