The Design and Craft Council of Ireland (DCCI) has an ongoing series called‘Meet the Maker’, which interviews members and asks exciting questions such as, “What do you like most about your work?”. In addition, the DCCI has another feature called ‘Sunday Spotlight’, which shares information about a member via DCCI’s social media.

Applications are now open for the Design & Crafts Council Ireland’s Irish Craft Village at the Bord Bia Bloom 2024. Each year, exhibitors are selected to illustrate Ireland’s wide variety of craft and design.
Bord Bia Bloom will take place from the 30th of May through the 3rd of June. The event celebrates its 18th birthday in 2024 and is Ireland’s largest garden festival. It runs for five days during the June bank holiday weekend each year in Dublin’s Phoenix Park.
The deadline for applications is Friday, the 12th April.

The Homo Faber Fellowship is a yearly seven-month sponsored professional integration programme designed for collaborative duos of master artisans and craft graduates. Participants will develop business and marketing knowledge, as well as design and hands-on practical skills through transmission from one generation to the next.
The Homo Faber Fellowship is presented by Design & Crafts Council Ireland in partnership with the Michelangelo Foundation, powered by the Young Craft Booster and co-funded by European Union.

Day Two
On the second day, the theme of the panel was ‘Wool Yarns; From Ewe to SKU’ and included –
Speaker Ngaire Takano is investigating alternative methods of scouring wool.A second slide shows an improved flow for scouring.Dr Tim Yeomans (in the blue shirt) shared about technical advances that could be applied to wool.

Lastly, as part of the annual Showcase awards, the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland awarded the knitwear company Ériu, which focuses on using sustainable and circular Irish-raised wool, as the ‘Overall Winner’.
The Design & Crafts Council Ireland has launched The Accelerator Programme in partnership with Portal, Trinity College Dublin.
The Accelerator Programme is specifically designed to support small and midsize enterprises (SMEs) in the craft and design industry, helping them tap into international markets by providing essential startup assistance. The course will be delivered in two stages, between March and December 2024, with 20 companies shortlisted for a place on the course.
Join the Irish Grown Wool Council at Showcase 2024 for a series of curated panel talks on Irish wool.
Talks will take place on each of the three days of Showcase, 21st – 23rd January (RDS, Dublin), across the key themes of Sustainability, Fashion and Innovation, focusing on the past, present and future for Irish wool. Join us at the ‘Inspiration Stage’ for these talks at Showcase 2024.
