Feltmakers Ireland and 40 other local textile exhibitors will be at the Dublin Fibre Festival THIS Saturday, the 18th of October. This is THE opportunity to touch yarn and fibres in person, attend textile workshops, and watch spinning, felting, and other fibre arts demonstrations! Of Interest: London Textile Month – September 2025

London Textile Month is a city-wide festival celebrating cloth, culture, and creativity. Curated by Selvedge magazine, this inaugural edition brings together artists, makers, brands, and institutions for a month of workshops, exhibitions, talks, and open studios – spotlighting textiles.

London Textile Month runs from the 1st–30th of September, 2025.

  • As part of London Textile Month, there is a symposium, Interwoven: Wool Across Borders – a one-day event celebrating a decade of Khadi London CIC’s pioneering work in regenerative textiles.

Event: Dublin Fiber Festival this Saturday

This Saturday, the 26th of October, a group of volunteers from Feltmakers Ireland will share the miracle of feltmaking and our excellent book, ‘Exploring Irish Wool for Feltmaking’ at the Dublin Fibre Festival!

The festival’s inaugural edition will bring together fibre fans, artisans, and exhibitors for a day of creativity, inspiration, and community.

Some of our members will also be exhibiting and vending at the show: Irish Fibre Crafters (Sandra King) and FeltHappiness (Juliane Gorman). In addition, our friends from Fibreshed Ireland (co-founder Malú Colorín spoke at our AGM in May), will sell undyed and naturally dyed 100% Irish wool yarn, and knit kits. They will also sell tickets to their upcoming symposium – ‘Reimagining Textiles for an Equitable Future’, one of the exciting events scheduled during Irish Design Week in November.

Tickets to the Dublin Fibre Festival are available at the door via cash or card: 10 euros, free for children under 12 and disabled people.

Event: Textile Journey Festival – Friday through Sunday – Dublin Castle Coach House Gallery

This year’s Textile Journey celebrates creativity, wool, and textiles, including several events: demonstrations, open studios, and workshops. The festival is an invitation to everyone to try making or exploring textiles.

Textile Journey will have demonstrations from several textile artists. Come and enjoy the showcase of their skills.

There will be a Materials and Tools Exchange: Swap bits from your stash and explore new materials, tools, and techniques.

In addition, there will be a Sharing Panel—an art installation by the facilitators that encourages public participation.

10 AM -1 PM | Curator from Chester Beatty will give an illuminated talk on ‘Textiles in Books’, and there will be a hands-on activity of creating a book cover using found materials.

2 PM – 5 PM | The Hypocrisy of Bridgetown: Embroidery, Feminism and Activism through the Centuries.

Monday 28th Oct

10 AM – 1 PM | Knitting machines with Cosima Augustin-Malloy.

2 PM – 3 PM | Artist Talk: Developing interactive textiles and pouring the magic of personal practice when sculpting with textiles.

Events: Festival of Wool and Cloth – July in Waterville, Co Kerry

Over four days, the Festival of Wool and Cloth will offer workshops and talks on knitting, weaving, spinning, wet felting, needle felting, eco printing, craftivism, and more.

Feltmakers Ireland Guild member Sharon Wells is teaching a taster needlefelting workshop on Friday, the 5th July. Sharon will be working from photographs by local photographer Alice Dennehy.

Event: New York Textile Month this September

New York Textile Month starts in September.

Initiated by Li Edelkoort, this multi-location event gathers all voices and expressions on Textiles happening in New York City.

Events include the following: Open Studios, Exhibitions, Workshops, Tours, and Conferences.

Various textile techniques are included: Knitting, Dyeing, Weaving, Tapestry, Printing, Embroidery, Felting, and Textile Production.

Under the category of Felting, there are tours of the Waste No More Studio. In 2018, clothing designer Eileen Fisher debuted Waste No More, a design studio dedicated to making artisanal textiles from post-consumer clothing. At their studio, they will display their latest wallworks and offer demonstrations of their needle felting machine.

Event: Week-Long Textile Journey Festival

The Textile Journey Festival is a celebration of creativity and all things wool and textile.

It includes a variety of events: a summer camp, daily textile demonstrations, a materials and tools exchange, open studios & workshops.

The festival is an invitation to everyone: come and try making or exploring textiles.

Daily Demonstrations will showcase the skills of Irish textile artists: Cosima Malloy, Helen Crawford, Jane Fox, Mary Palmer, Kim Lin Morris, Rachel McKinney, Aine Dunne, Suzanne Duke, Patricia O’Connor and Niki Collier.

The event runs from the 31st of July to the 6th of August at The Orangery, Marlay Park, Dublin.
