Event: Festival of Botanical Colours – Co Kerry

The Festival of Botanical Colours is a textile event which includes workshops and demonstrations, including the following: indigo dyeing, land art, ink making, Fair Isle knitting, spinning, storytelling, block printing, solar dyeing, pigments, peg loom weaving and more

When: From Friday, the 24th, through Sunday, the 26th of October.

Where: Tech Amergin (arts centre), Spunkane, Waterville, Co Kerry.

  • Dublin Fibre Festival - 18 October - IMMA

Tickets are now available for this year’s Dublin Fibre Festival, which we are excited to be a part of for its second year! Volunteers from Feltmakers Ireland will share the wonders of feltmaking at the festival.

Additionally, several members* will be showing (and vending) their creations.

When: The 18th of October, from 10 AM to 6 PM.

Where: Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Military Rd, Kilmainham, Dublin 8, D08 FW31

Entrance to the event has designated time slots. If you need to extend your time, please speak with the volunteers upon entry.

In addition to vendors and exhibitors, there are workshops and talks on crochetting, embroidery, weaving, and knitting.

‘Warped and Wasted Exhibition’
Textile Talks
Textile Challenge

Seam Collective, a contemporary textile collective of textile practitioners based in the southwest of the UK, has three items of interest: an exhibition, a series of textile talks, and a textile challenge.

The Exhibition

Firstly, they have a group exhibition, ‘Warped and Wasted’, which focuses on textiles, sustainability, and collaboration.

When: The show runs until the 11th of October.

Textile Talks

Secondly, the Seam Collective will host a series of Textile Talks, both in-person and online, on Friday, the 3rd of October. The collective and invited peers in the fields of textiles, visual arts, and sustainability will discuss issues of textiles and sustainability, adding to the critical dialogue around sustainable arts practices locally, nationally, and internationally.

The Challenge

Finally, the Seam Collective is once again hosting their annual online challenge, #SeptTextileLove. (They have been doing this challenge for nine years!) You can visit Instagram to see the work they are sharing from the exhibition, re-share it with a 💛, or contribute your own posts that relate to the daily prompts. They request that you include the hashtags #SeptTextileLove and #SeptTextileLove25 in your caption, and tag @seam_collective. There are also new daily hashtags, such as #STL25Day1, #STL25Day2, and so on, making it easier to find posts.

Of Interest: Huge 3D Textile Map of Ireland Seeks Home

Via RTE News: A huge wool map of Ireland, which took four years of knitting and crocheting to complete, is in search of a new home to go on public display.

A group of up to 18 women in Co. Wicklow, comprising skilled knitters, sewers, and crocheters, met every Wednesday at the Carnew Community Care Centre, where they developed ideas for landmarks and historical sites across the island of Ireland that they could create together through sewing and knitting.

The woollen map features prominent landmarks and sites across the island, including Glendalough, Croagh Patrick, Phoenix Park, Giant’s Causeway and Fungie the Dolphin.

Open Call: Dublin Fibre Festival Seeking Vendors, Exhibitors and Instructors

The second year of the Dublin Fibre Festival will be held on the 18th of October, 2025 at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA).

Applications for vendors, exhibitors and workshop instructors are open until the 30th of April for vendors and exhibitors.


Vendors and Exhibitors

All fibre artists are welcome to vend or exhibit in the following categories:

  • Wool, knitting and crocheting, felting, embroidery, macrame, textiles and fabrics, weaving, and wool-related technology.

Workshop Tutors

For workshop instructors, eligible categories include the following:

  • Teaching fibre-related techniques, crafts, products, technology, software, small businesses, and entrepreneurship subjects.
  • Talking about a technique, craft, product, history, culture, technology, small businesses, entrepreneurship or anything related to the fibre industry and having a small business in the fibre/craft industries.
