The Full Circle Awards is a new initiative designed by Circular, i.e. and The Rediscovery Centre, to honour and celebrate the incredible efforts of everyday people who drive positive change through circular living.

They invite people nationwide for nominations to the Full Circle Awards — ordinary individuals making an extraordinary impact by promoting reuse, repair, recycling, and sustainable living in their communities.

There is a category for Creative Circular Artists: For those who transform waste materials into art, furniture, décor, or other creative expressions through upcycling.

AiR Green - Tiltile Artist in Residency

Open Call 2026

AiR Green offers a residency program tailored for artists working with textile media at Søndre Green Farm, situated at the foot of the Norefjell mountain range in Krødsherad Municipality in Norway.

Through the program, AiR Green aims to provide space for focused work, support the development and dissemination of textile art, and foster connections between artists from around the world.

Air Green offers two residency formats: one for four artists for one month and Studio AiR Green, which is for a single artist for two months.

Open Call: Apply to August Craft Month – Deadline the 8th of June

Applications are open for this year’s August Craft Month, which is open to all makers who wish to share what they do. Highlighting the vibrant local craft scene across the island of Ireland, August Craft Month is a unique celebration of the local craft sector, providing various opportunities for the public to #MakeSeeBuy.

Your event could take the form of a workshop, open studio, craft trail, exhibition, talk, meet-the-maker session, demonstration, craft market, fair, or festival. It may be held in person or online and can be designed for adults, children, families, or audiences of all ages.

August Craft Month is organised by the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland and Craft NI.

The deadline to be included in listings is Sunday, the 8th of June.

Open Call: August Craft Month – (Un)Bound Exhibition CraftNI Gallery – Belfast

CraftNI‘s August Craft Month 2025 exhibition is now accepting applications. Makers are invited to address the contexts of the open call below –

“Do you feel the tug of elements of tradition that are important to you in your craft? Is it the traditional techniques, in use for centuries, that you love to use in a contemporary way? Or is it the traditional values of crafts which are one of your drivers? Co-operation, place, community?

Perhaps you feel released from the bonds of tradition, your chosen discipline enabling you to pursue your ideas freely. Or perhaps you want to turn your creative focus inwards, towards the concept of binding and/or unbinding.”

Open Calls: Three Awards Applications for Makers

Currently, three awards are open to makers in Ireland: the RDS Craft Awards, the Leitrim Design House Awards, and the Design and Craft Council of Ireland’s Future Makers Awards. Two awards are open to those not enrolled in education or recent graduates.


The RDS Craft Awards

Applications will open for the RDS Craft Awards on the 5th of May, 2025. It is a competition open to all craft makers living on the island of Ireland and Irish-born craft makers working overseas.  The work of emerging and established makers is judged separately, with specific prizes to support emerging craftspeople. The Awards will be made from a total prize fund of €60,000.

The Emerging Maker category is open to individuals who aren’t necessarily recent graduates, and there is no age limit. Instead, there are these requirements:

  • Focus on heritage, skills, and sustainable practices.
  • Practice commenced within the past 10 years, with the determination to grow their craft at home and abroad.
  • Work must be made and sourced in Ireland.

The deadline for applying is the 23rd of June. There is no fee to enter.

The Leitrim Design House – National Design, Craft & Art Awards

To mark 25 years of supporting creative Irish businesses, The Leitrim Design House has launched the National Design, Craft & Art Awards to celebrate excellence in craftsmanship. The award stems from the organisation’s resilience and sustainability as a business over the past two decades.

As a reflection of this longevity, The Leitrim Design House invites makers, artists, and designers from across the country to respond to the theme of Reused Sustainability.

The overall winner will receive €2,500 and a solo exhibition at The Leitrim Design House in 2026. A Special Commendation Prize of €1,000 will also be awarded to a runner-up.

Open Call: Wool in Regenerative Fashion – Dutch Design Week

Every year, during Dutch Design Week—the biggest design event in Northern Europe—the New Order of Fashion (NOOF) presents a new generation of the most forward-thinking textile and fashion talents. For the 2025 Dutch Design Week (18-26 October), they will focus on the theme of regeneration, exemplified by a deep dive into wool’s material, environmental, and cultural workings. They seek designers who work across themes like biodiversity, community, ecology, animal well-being, indigenous knowledge, decolonisation & more-than-human design.

Are you a maker, creator, builder, inventor, crafter, hacker, educator or enthusiast who loves to share what you do? Dublin Maker 2025 is Ireland’s biggest show-and-tell festival of creativity, innovation, and invention.

Open Call: Sculpture in Context 40th Anniversary Exhibition – Application Deadline in 1 Week

Sculpture in Context Logo and that it is their 4oth year

Sculpture in Context will celebrate 40 Years of showcasing sculpture in Ireland this September. The DEADLINE for applying is next Friday!

Exhibition entries are open to artists working in three dimensions in any medium. They encourage the broadest possible definition of sculptural practice, encompassing object-making, installation, performance, video, and emerging hybrid forms, both permanent and ephemeral.

Note: In the past, several feltmakers have submitted and been accepted to exhibit in Sculpture in Context shows. Search ‘Sculpture in Context’ on our Feltmakers Ireland website to read about some of these members’ pieces.

The exhibition attracts numerous visitors and offers significant visibility and potential for selling work.

The large sculptures will be showcased in the garden’s natural setting, creating a dialogue between art and nature. The indoor gallery will showcase a curated selection of works, offering an intimate and thoughtfully arranged viewing experience.

Entrance is by open submission, and selection is made by an independent panel of judges.

DEADLINE: 11:59 PM, on Friday the 25th April, 2025.

Up to three submissions per artist are allowed, with an entry fee of € 16 for each submission.

The online submission process requires support documentation. Please note that if you close the portal mid-entry, your application will not be saved.

Open Call: Dublin Fibre Festival Seeking Vendors, Exhibitors and Instructors

The second year of the Dublin Fibre Festival will be held on the 18th of October, 2025 at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA).

Applications for vendors, exhibitors and workshop instructors are open until the 30th of April for vendors and exhibitors.


Vendors and Exhibitors

All fibre artists are welcome to vend or exhibit in the following categories:

  • Wool, knitting and crocheting, felting, embroidery, macrame, textiles and fabrics, weaving, and wool-related technology.

Workshop Tutors

For workshop instructors, eligible categories include the following:

  • Teaching fibre-related techniques, crafts, products, technology, software, small businesses, and entrepreneurship subjects.
  • Talking about a technique, craft, product, history, culture, technology, small businesses, entrepreneurship or anything related to the fibre industry and having a small business in the fibre/craft industries.

Of Interest: Dye Garden Workshops, Artists’ Residencies and Community Meitheal Days – Callan, Co Kilkenny

Colour Field - Dye Garden Workshops,, a Residency, and Community Meitheal Days

Colour Field is a newly developed garden at the Workhouse Union, in Callan, Co Kilkenny. It is dedicated to cultivating colour-giving plants. The project hosts workshops, talks, artists’ residencies, and a community celebration.

Different plants and the colours they create will be studied in the upcoming months.

The workshop programme begins with GREEN on Thursday, the 10th of April, 10:45 – 16:00. A full day working with fresh spring Nettle tops, this workshop will introduce natural dyeing, botanical drawing and embroidery.

Residencies

The Making Colour Studio Residency Programme invites artists to explore their practice through the creation of natural colour from plants. Selected through invitation and open call, participating artists will engage in a shared residency at Workhouse Union in the summer of 2025.

Artists will have access to the Colour Field dye garden, PrintBlock Callan print studio, outdoor dye kitchen, and the Workhouse Union library, which offer resources for research and experimentation.
