Exhibition: Wearable Art by Claire Garvey – Made in Wicklow Invited Guest 2026 – Powerscourt House

As part of Made in Wicklow’s ‘For the Love of Creativity’ series,ย Claire Garveyย presents ‘From Canvas to Cloth’, an exhibition featuring 15 bespoke, hand-crafted, and hand-beaded pieces of wearable art. Each garment is inspired by one of Claireโ€™s ten favourite paintings, with influences ranging from the bold strokes of Van Gogh and Miro to the intricate worlds of Botticelli and HR Giger.

Claire Garvey is a bespoke designer with a couture shop in the heart of Temple Bar, on Cowโ€™s Lane, Dublin. She has designed for the Oscars, the Emmys, the X-Factor, and the Cannes Film Festival. She specialises in one-off outfits for musicians and celebrities and is a celebrated advocate for ‘slow fashion’ and sustainability, hand-making every piece in her workshop with a focus on recycled trims and exquisite craftsmanship.

Exhibitions: Two Members have Work in Group Shows

Feltmakers Ireland members exhibit their artwork in group and solo shows.

Two of our members have artwork in exhibitions.

FGU Art Group

An invitation card for the opening of the 'Waterways Dublin 8' art exhibition by the FGU Art Group, featuring a collage of water-themed illustrations including ducks and swans, with event details.

Helena Mc Guinness has artwork in ‘Waterways Dublin 8’. She is part of a group exhibition of artists who create with the Fatima Groups United Family Resource Centre.

When: The show opens this Friday, the 7th, and runs through February.

Monday: Closed, Tuesdays through Saturdays: 9 AM – 7 PM, and Sundays: 11 AM – 6 PM.

Made in Wicklow

Sharon Wells has sculpture, wall art, and wearable art in Made in Wicklow’s ‘Head, Heart & Hands’ group exhibition, which has the work of 41 members of the organisation.

Free entry to the show. 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Exhibition: The Cinematic Thread – From Screen to Craft Exhibit โ€“ Powerscourt 17:17 Exhibit

Made in Wicklow - the Cinematic Thread - From Screen to Craft. 17 Craft responses to 17 costumes from the Irish Costume Archive Project.

The ‘Cinematic Thread: from Screen to Craft’ exhibition highlights the talents of 17 practitioners from the Made in Wicklow platform. Working in collaboration with the Irish Costume Archive Project (ICAP), each maker has created an original piece inspired by a costume from iconic films and television series. Their creationsโ€”jewellery, ceramics, textiles, and metalworkโ€”are displayed alongside the costumes.

Feltmakers Ireland guild member Sharon Wells has a piece in the exhibition.

Exhibition: Sharon Wells – Made in Wicklow Makers’ Showcase – Powerscourt House, Enniskerry

Feltmakers Ireland guild member Sharon Wells is part of the Made in Wicklow makers group and has a piece in the ‘Head, Heart and Hands Showcase’ of 30 craft practioners at the Powerscourt House in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow.

Sharon’s piece is titled, ‘Portach รlainn/Beautiful Bogland’.

When: Saturday, the 1st to Sunday, the 9th of February, from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Event: Wildflowers and Wool in Wicklow

Foraging and Natural Dyeย workshop, Saturday June 22nd, in association withย Made in Wicklow and supported byย Wicklow Craft Foundation.

Join Wildflowers and Wool in Wicklow Workshop in Blessington, overlooking the lakes, for an immersive day. Meet the alpaca, pigs, and sheep that reside nearby. Forage in Miriam Brady’s garden for medicinal and dye plants. Make your own natural teas and sample an organic, natural lunch. In the afternoon, Feltmakers Ireland member Sharon Wells, will share about the heritage of wool in Ireland and how to use natural dyes.

Education: Made in Wicklow – Craft Workshops

Throughout January, Wicklow Libraries will hold the Made in Wicklow Craft Workshop series. Classes include needle felting landscapes with Feltmakers Ireland member Sharon Wells. In addition, there are pottery, crochet, bookmaking, woodworking, and calligraphy classes with other instructors.

The series is set to coincide with and celebrate the launch of the Made in Wicklow Craft trail, which is scheduled to launch at Powerscourt on St Bridget’s Day, Thursday, 1st February 2024, alongside a five-day exhibition of the excellence and difference of Wicklow Craft.
