Sunday Session: This Sunday – Maria Mc Garry

Sunday Session – 9th of June – Maria Mc Garry NEW LOCATION

Guild member Maria Mc Garry from Co Laois, will give a show-and-tell of her experiences with working with galleries and selling at markets. She will also demonstrate how to make a ruffle felted scarf.

When: the 9th of June, 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Get off at Fatima Luas stop (Red Line) and walk to a set of traffic lights.

Cross at the traffic lights, walk straight ahead, and take the first right onto Reuben Plaza. You will then see the Herberton gym.

Walk by the Herberton Gym and the Arch Cafe, then turn left. F2 Centre is located beside the green space/kids’ play area.

Where You Enter the Building

Parking

There is free street parking along St Anthony’s Road, which leads up to the F2 building. Parking is also available on Reuben Walk and Reuben Street, which surround the building.

Two disabled parking spots are at the top of St Anthony’s Road, leading onto Reuben Plaza and the F2 Centre.

Additional Information

A Sunday Session like this will require lots of tea/ coffee/cake and chat, so there’ll be an abundance of that. Of course, homebakes are always welcome! There is the usual 5 euro fee.

On Friday, the 7th of June, the Guild will email members a Zoom Link for virtual access and also include a phone number to call for those who need help finding the Centre on the day of the event.

News: Laois Made Crafts – Maria McGarry and Colleagues at the National Ploughing Championship

Another member of Feltmakers Ireland has a booth at the National Ploughing Championship. Maria McGarry will be vending her felted scarves and eco-printed scarves with CAIRDE, a local organisation of Laois Made Crafts.

News: Wool Events at the National Ploughing Championship

There are several wool-related activities at the National Ploughing Championship.

On Tuesday, the 19th of September, a Wool Industry Panel in the Creative Ireland tent, Block 3 Row 23, will discuss the importance of wool and how we can encourage innovation, creativity, education and growth in the sector.

This event will be moderated by Lorna McCormack, Director @woolinschool

The panellists are Pat Byrne of the @irish_grown_wool_council_, Zoe Daly @eriu.ireland, and Matthew Carroll of @thegalwaywoolco_op.

From Tuesday through Thursday, Creative Ireland, in association with Kildare County Council and Wool in School, invites visitors to the Culture, Creativity, Innovation and Sport tent to complete fun and short knitting challenges, which will be attached to a final knitted collage, becoming an artistic “Wall of Wool”.

Each wall panel will depict a St Brigid’s Cloak celebrating and commemorating the legacy of St Brigid. Wool in School, our Artist in Residence @michellehickeyart, and our team of Artists will assist the public in creating a #WallofWool.

The Wall of Wool comprises of Irish wool from Donegal Yarns, Galway Wool, Ciarán’s Yarns, and Eriu.

Lastly, Feltmakers Ireland guild member Tamzen Lundy has a stall selling her felted creations. Find her at Location OU, Block 4, Row 31, Stand 467. She is part of Irish Makers Artisan Collective.
