Textile Exhibition - Rebecca Powell until the 10th of May - Cork Airport

If you’re passing through Cork Airport this month, don’t miss ‘As Without So Within’, a solo exhibition by textile artist Rebecca Powell. Known for her intricate stitched pieces, Powell draws inspiration from the wild and untamed landscapes of Ireland. She creates her work with hand-stitching, using silk, wool, and linen.

Powell is also the founder of the newly formed West Cork Collective in Ballinspittle, Co Cork. The group’s motto is, “Alone we can, however, together feels better”

The exhibition runs until the 10th of May.

Of Interest: West Cork Collective Opening This Sunday

West Cork Collective Opening - Sunday, the 2nd of March - 1 PM

On Sunday, the 2nd of March, the West Cork Collective will open its doors. Over 30 members have already come together to create this cooperative group. Currently, a dozen retail members are in the shop, and 22 associate members are in the gallery space.

There will be classes and workshops in the space – including wet felting!

Where: Main Street, Ballinspittle, Kinsale, P17 FF62 – located at the start of the Wild Atlantic Way in Cork.

Open Call: Tiny Acorns – a Journal Exhibition – Cork

Open Call - Tiny Acorns - a journal/sketchbook exhibition for creatives based in Ireland. Part of the In the Making Festival, in Cork.

In the Making Festival‘ has an open call for submissions to ‘Tiny Acorns’, a multidisciplinary journal exhibition showcasing a curated selection of physical sketchbooks and journals by artists, creators, and makers across Ireland.

Sketchbooks/journals (landscape or portrait) must not exceed A4 dimensions (8.3 x 11.7 inches). 

The exhibition will be at the Cork Opera House – the 2nd of April, 2025.

Deadline: the 22nd of February.

Exhibition: Cork Textiles Network – Botanica – Co Cork

The Cork Textiles Network (CTN) has launched its annual member exhibition, ‘Botanica’. Each year, members come together to start their year with an exhibition of works that showcase the vast array of textile mediums used to create extraordinary works of inspiring art.

The Design Crafts Council of Ireland and Cork City Libraries kindly supported the exhibition, which will run in the Bishopstown Library, Wilson, Cork City.

When: The show runs until February 28th, 2025, and can be viewed for free during library opening times (10 AM—5:30 PM, Monday through Saturday).

Exhibition: Timelines – Growth and Catastrophe – Cork

‘Timelines Growth and Catastrophe’ is a collaboration between eight contemporary Irish tapestry weavers. It showcases one large tapestry and eight individual works. The artists are the following: Muriel Beckett, Tish Canniffe, Pascale De Coninck, Frances Crowe, Lorna Donlon, Terry Dunne, Catherine Ryan, and Heather Underwood.

Where: LHQ Gallery, County Library, County Hall, Cork.

The exhibition continues until 28th February 2025.
