Of Interest: Wool in School – Climate Education for Children

A smiling girl wearing a blue dress stands next to educational activity worksheets. The text promotes a free kids' workbook related to climate plans, highlighting that it is downloadable, printable, and shareable.

Wool in School has a licensing opportunity: a Climate-Resource Information Pack that artists, educators, or businesses can share online.

The pack is free to download, print, and share with customers, clients, staff, families, schools, and community partners. Included is a workbook and ten activity sheets.

Why this matters for fashion and textiles:

Materials and product lifecycles sit at the heart of fashion’s climate impact on Sustainable Development Goals. These include the following: fibre choices, durability, repair, reuse, waste, land and biodiversity.

Climate strategies succeed when people understand these links. Giving children (and the adults around them) practical tools is one of the most credible “beyond the value chain” actions a fashion or textile business can take.

From fibre production to product lifespan and end-of-life, textiles connect to:

  • carbon impacts,

  • circularity and waste reduction,

  • biodiversity and land stewardship,

  • consumer behaviour and repair culture.

  • Supporting education in this space is a credible way to strengthen one’s climate narrative.

Open Call: 24th Annual Mini Textile Exhibition – Slovak Association of Textile Artists

Promotional poster for the 24th International Mini Textile Exhibition organised by the TXT - Slovak Association of Textile Artists. The theme is 'Empathy' with an entry deadline of February 28th, 2026. Includes a QR code and information in both English and Slovak.

The Association of Textile Artists of Slovakia invites artists to participate in its 24th annual international juried exhibition of textile miniatures. There is a size limitation of 20 by 20 by 20 cm.

The theme of the exhibition is EMPATHY.

From the organisers:

“Empathy is an apparently natural human feeling – the ability to perceive another person in our surroundings and to enter into their experience of joyful as well as complex, even tragic, situations.

Empathy is not a given.

It does not arise automatically simply because we share the same space or follow the same news. It is a fragile state of attentiveness – the ability to momentarily withdraw from one’s own world and allow oneself to be affected by the experience of another. Without the need to judge, correct, or seek solutions.

At a time when suffering becomes a distant image and reality is reduced to rapid information, empathy slows us down. It compels us to stay. With a gaze, with a gesture, with silence. It is neither loud nor spectacular. It is inconspicuous, and precisely for that reason vulnerable. It requires the courage to remain open even where it would be easier to look away.”

Where: Galéria Umelka, Bratislava, Slovakia

Deadline: Saturday, the 28th of February.

Of Interest: Irish Wool Almanac – Be Included

A promotional image inviting contributions to the Irish Wool Almanac, featuring two sheep walking on a grassy path.

To celebrate European Wool Day and Women in Agriculture 2026, Future Island-Island is producing an Irish Grown Wool Almanac.

This will be a printed and digital directory celebrating the people and organisations shaping the wool landscape in the island of Ireland, and the journey from farm to fibre to finished work.

The almanac will be funded and published by Future Island-Island, an AHRC Green Transition Ecosystem research programme, in partnership with the Irish Grown Wool Council.

It will be distributed at the European Wool Day 2026 Conference in Tralee next month and shared online as part of Future Island-Island’s wider programme of activity.

To submit your listing, use the online form linked below. You will be prompted to share what you do, highlights of your contribution, and why Irish wool matters. There’s also a request for up to 3 high-quality images, plus your logo with captions and credits.

They aim to include as many listings as possible. If they receive more submissions than can fit in the printed almanac, they will select entries to ensure a balanced spread across both regions and the wool journey.
