Thank You for your Membership Payment

Welcome to Feltmakers Ireland – 2026! πŸ‘βœ¨πŸ‘

Dear Member,

Thank you for your Membership Payment of 25 euros.

Welcome to Feltmakers Ireland! Whether you’re a new member or renewing your membership, we’re delighted to have you as part of our vibrant community of feltmaking enthusiasts. Whether you’re passionate about wet felting, needle felting, or both, our group is dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all members.

For those who are renewing their membership, thank you for your continued support and dedication to our group. Our members’ participation enriches our community and contributes to the growth of our shared passion for feltmaking.

As a reminder, here’s some key information about Feltmakers Ireland:

Monthly Meetings:

Our regular Sunday Sessions typically take place on the second Sunday of each month, though bank holidays may affect the schedule. Please check our blog for any updates or changes. To avoid missing posts, you can subscribe to the blog to receive updates via email. On the right-hand side of the website, there is an online β€˜box’ to put in your email. A new post is published every day, Monday through Friday.Β

Please be aware that we do not hold sessions in July or August. Although we did have a demonstration table at the Tullamore Show and hosted two Open Days in August as part of the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland’s August Craft Month.Β

Meeting Location:

For most Sunday Sessions, we gather at the CIE Hall/Inchicore Sports and Social Club, Library Square, Inchicore, Dublin 8, D08 PA07. There is ample, no-permit-needed parking, and you can easily find us using Google Maps: Google Maps LinkΒ Β

People coming by car would turn off Grattan Crescent onto South Terrace, then right onto West Terrace, and arrive at the Square outside the Hall.

If you are taking public transit from the centre of Dublin, the G1, G2 and number 60 buses stop on Sarsfield Road. The stop on the route from town is 2643. Facing the stone wall, turn left and walk back approximately 16 strides from the bus stop to go through a β€˜hole’ in the stone wall. Walk along Inchicore Terrace North past the houses, and you will see the CIE Hall as you come around the corner. (Do not walk forward from the bus stop towards the train underpass).Β

For the return journey, you would come out of the β€˜hole’ in the wall. Cross the road – head a short distance to the right to bus stop 2719 – Woodfield Terrace for the G1, G2, 60. [Or of course, if arriving from further out from Dublin city centre, eg Ballyfermot –Β  get off at stop 2719].

When possible, we try to offer access to our Sunday Sessions via Zoom. We usually email the Zoom link to members on Friday before the meeting. A passcode is not usually needed.

Co Galway Subgroup

Interest has been raised in creating sub-groups of Feltmakers Ireland, specifically in County Galway, as Dublin is a far distance from where we meet for our monthly Sunday Session.

Guild member Belinda Reid has kindly volunteered to coordinate this initiative. She is based in Gort, where she has a lovely studio that can serve as a meeting space. She is also open to arranging gatherings in a more centralised location to accommodate members from across the county.

If you are interested in joining in-person, local meetings of the guild in CountyΒ Galway, please use the Contact Page at the Feltmakers Ireland-West website.

Upcoming Meeting:

Our next meeting will be a Sunday Session on the 11th of January.

Note: We try to document our events with photographs for our blog. If you do not wish to be photographed, please let us know.

Resources Page:

Explore our website’s Resources Page, where you’ll find helpful links to Irish wool farmers and wool retailers in Europe and the UK. Several of our members are fibre suppliers.

If you have additional recommendations, please let us know.

Exhibitions:

Poster for our 2025 exhibition, ‘Symbols of Ireland’

We try to hold an annual exhibition of members’ artwork. Some years, it is open to all members; other years, it is juried.

This year, our theme was ‘Symbols of Ireland’. First Lady Sabina Higgins launched our show on Sunday, the 2nd of March, 2025, @ 3 PM. Information about the exhibition, including the online catalogue,Β isΒ on our blog.

In August, the guild held a curated, joint exhibition with the Quilters Guild of Ireland at the National Design and Crafts Council Gallery of the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCI) in Kilkenny. The exhibition ran from the 7th of August to the 1st of November, 2025. There is a recap on our blog.

Our Book:

If you’re eager to delve deeper into the world of Irish wool and its applications in feltmaking, we’ve authored a comprehensive book titled ‘Exploring Irish Wool for Feltmaking’. It’s a valuable resource for enthusiasts of all levels and would make the perfect gift for any fibre enthusiasts you know! You can find it here on the website – Book Link.

We genuinely look forward to meeting you in person and sharing our love for feltmaking. If you have any questions, suggestions, or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Welcome aboard!

Kind Regards,

The Committee: Adrienne, Belinda, Deirdre, Elizabeth, Helena, Irina, Juliane, Karen, Loli, Lorna, and Sam.

PS: We warmly invite members to join the Committee and help make Feltmakers Ireland an outstanding organisation! You don’t need to be an experienced felterβ€”many other valuable skills can support our voluntary group.
