Event: State of Crafts – World Crafts Council Annual Conference

This year’s World Crafts Council of Europe’s annual conference is titled ‘State of Crafts: Key Pillars in the Contemporary Craft Sector’. It will bring together a network of more than 30 craft organisations across Europe and a programme of speakers for a public conference to discuss and debate current issues related to crafts in Europe.

What can be learnt from crafts to benefit other sectors and broader society? What positive stories can be told to bring craft to more people and the use of hand-made crafted products into their everyday lives? What are the key challenges and opportunities facing the craft sector today, particularly in the realms of entrepreneurship and knowledge exchange? How can crafts serve as a model for sustainability and circular economy principles? 

The event is in Barcelona and online and is free and open to the public.

When: the 20th of June, from 9 AM – 1 PM Central European Time.

Opportunity: Creative Exchange Residency for Craft Practitioners 2023-25

The World Crafts Council of Europe (WCC-Europe) invites craft practitioners to apply for residency in one of three categories: Pair Exchange, Workshop Attendance or Group Exchange.

The call is open to professional craft practitioners of all levels from diverse regions across Europe. It facilitates exchanges between different countries and within different regions of the same country and encourages a rich variety of knowledge-sharing experiences.

Successful applicants will receive a 400€ stipend. This stipend is intended to cover basic travel expenses and contribute to accommodation costs.

The deadline is the 12th of December.

The World Craft Council of Europe (WCCE) presents MAKE: GROW: FLOURISH, a comprehensive business training programme that understands the specific needs and challenges faced by craft enterprises seeking to expand and thrive within the competitive marketplace.

To foster a trusted environment, this programme will offer a mix of workshops, group discussions, resources, writing and exercises, all designed to help you construct a business plan. This programme provides a unique opportunity for participants to build a peer support network across Europe.

The online training programme will be conducted in English30 places are available
