Two Summer Solo Shows not to miss

Feltmakers Ireland are delighted to announce two solo shows by our members for the month of August. We held a call out earlier this year for interested members to submit ideas for an exhibition  in the Visitors Centre in the Phoenix Park. The two successful members were Claire Merry and Niki Collier.

1st August – Killruddery House and Gardens, in association with the Feltmakers Ireland guild, are hosting a feltmaking workshop in the beautiful Fruit Room Studio on the Killruddery estate on Saturday 1st August with Gabi McGrath. The workshop is suitable for all levels, even those new to the craft. The cost is €60, including basic the materials (extra can be purchased on the day).  Come to learn a new skill in the wonderful surroundings Killruddery has to offer. You will go home with a beautiful 3-D vessel that you designed and made yourself.  Application form and more details here: Workshop in Kilruddery House with Gabi

8th August  – Feltmakers Ireland, in association with the Killruddery House and Gardens, are hosting an eco-dyeing workshop in the beautiful Fruit Room Studio on the Killruddery estate with Misha Markova. Join in an adventure of making wonderful cloth and paper samples for a one day. UntitledSummer is here!  Please join us for the last Sunday Session before we start up again in the Autumn.  Clodagh MacDonagh will be teaching and showing us how to making and use silk paper!  She is an expert at dyeing beautiful colours.  Make sure you don’t miss it.

April Sunday Session – Polymer Clay Buttons and Beads For Felt

cuffPolymer Clay ButtonsCome join us for the April Sunday Session!  We’ll be talking about embellishing with Polymer Clay.

If you’re looking for something to jazz up your felt, this might be one of the ways to do it.

– Different types of hollow beads.

– Multi coloured buttons.

– Blending and layering clay for different effects.

It should be a great day and hopefully the sun will be shining.

This will be a demo/discussion day, not a workshop day.

Sunday Session – 8th March ‘Funky Felting’

Native breeds Sunday Session. Come check out the unique qualities of the fleeces produced by diverse breeds of sheep. We are going to experiment with a selection of fibre and explore the opportunities for using different wools for different purposes sculptural felt, wearables, footwear etc. Come play with the fibre next Sunday 8th March 10.30am-12 noon

New Workshop details

We are hosting a workshop in our studio in the Phoenix Park on Saturday 28th March with Gabi McGrath. The workshop is suitable for beginners and costs €60  – you will go home with a beautiful bag that you designed and made yourself. Our next Sunday Session

Join us in the Feltmakers studio on Sunday next, 9th November (and the second Sunday of every month)  to explore glass bead making and how they can be used in felt. We are very luck to have an expert in glass blowing to show her work making glass beads and buttons.

Sunday Session in our Studio October 12th

Join us in our studio in the Phoenix Park On Sunday October  12 (and the second Sunday of every month) for a for a morning of shared knowledge and inspiration.

Some of our members  will be showing a variety of techniques to embellish on felt – bumps, folds, nips & tucks.
