Transform your clothes with colour from plants

17th of April, 7-8 PM

Join natural dyer and designer Malú Colorín from Talú for a simple and fun tutorial on using plants and kitchen scraps to breathe new life into any old garment made from natural fibres. Register HERE.

Upcycle and embellish your clothes with needle felting

26th of April, 7-8PM

Join wool expert Sandra King from Irish Fibre Crafters for a fun tutorial where she’ll explain how to upcycle garments found at charity shops, swap shops, or clothing no longer worn. Sandra will concentrate on needle felting onto the fabric and making suggestions of other embellishments that can be used. Register HERE.

1st August – Killruddery House and Gardens, in association with the Feltmakers Ireland guild, are hosting a feltmaking workshop in the beautiful Fruit Room Studio on the Killruddery estate on Saturday 1st August with Gabi McGrath. The workshop is suitable for all levels, even those new to the craft. The cost is €60, including basic the materials (extra can be purchased on the day).  Come to learn a new skill in the wonderful surroundings Killruddery has to offer. You will go home with a beautiful 3-D vessel that you designed and made yourself.  Application form and more details here: Workshop in Kilruddery House with Gabi

New Season of Sunday Sessions

natural-dyesThe new season of Sunday Sessions starts next Sunday, 8th September, in the Studio in Phoenix Park. This month we will be looking at various techniques of natural dyeing and eco-printing. Misha Markova and Holly Angle will share their knowledge and experience of dyeing and printing with natural materials. Please bring along any items you have dyed or printed. The Sessions take place on the second Sunday of each month and everyone is welcome.

Time: 10.30 – 13.00

Clodagh Mac Donagh will once again be running a Summerschool  of Creative Textile Workshops for small groups, at the Feltmakers Ireland studio in the Phoenix Park.

These workshops are suitable for either beginners or those who

have already had experience of dyeing.

*Please note all workshops cost €40 per day, including some     materials, dyes, chemicals but not fabrics.

Proposed dates are : Sat July 13th  10:00am until 16:00

Acid dyeing+ Shibori

Produce a range of vividly coloured  fabrics, yarns + fibres using

fabulous acid dyes + shibori techniques.

Sat July 20th 10:00 until 16:00

Batik

Learn how to use a combination of hot wax + dyes to produce stunning  designs on fabric. You will use both  traditional Indonesian tools + alternative methods  to create your designs.

Sat July 27th 10:00 until 16:00

Indigo Magic and Shibori

Using the ancient mystical traditional blue dye + shibori techniques, create your own  colour palette of blues, on fabrics, fibres and yarns.

Sat August 3rd 10:00 until 16:00

Silk Painting

Introduction to painting on silk using vivid steam fix dyes to produce  personal colourful masterpieces.
