The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) is hosting its annual Earth Rising festival, which features over 50 free events designed to inspire, connect, and activate. This year’s event invites visitors to explore climate action through place, memory, creativity, and care. Events include art installations, music, screenings, talks, tours, and workshops.

When: From Friday, the 12th, through Sunday, the 14th of September.

Where: The Irish Museum of Modern Art, Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Military Rd, Kilmainham, Dublin 8, D08 FW31.

Event: IMMA – Earth Rising Eco Festival 2024

EARTH RISING at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) is a three-day festival where art meets activism and offers visitors a unique opportunity to engage with our time’s most pressing environmental issues. Over the weekend, EARTH RISING will present a diverse range of eco-themed installations and exhibitions, workshops, screenings, and thought-provoking discussions that invite participants to reflect on their role in the global climate movement.

All events and experiences at EARTH RISING are free of charge; the festival is drop-in and accessible to all. Spaces for talks and workshops are allocated on a first-come basis. Some workshops require booking, and ticket links can be found on the festival app on the workshop event page.

Fibreshed Ireland will offer short workshops, demonstrations, and talks throughout the event. From Seeds to Textile Sovereignty is an interactive space that will help festival-goers visualise and understand how seeds turn into textiles and why agrobiodiversity is key in this process.

When: Friday, the 20th through the Sunday, the 22nd of September.

Open Call: Earth Rising 2024 – IMMA

Now in its third year, IMMA (Irish Museum of Modern Art) EARTH RISING is open for applications from artists, collectives and community groups.

EARTH RISING is a festival of free events and experiences aimed at addressing the climate crisis and inspiring collective action towards a sustainable and hopeful future, taking place from the 20-22 September 2024,

Your proposal can be a new or existing work/project. Please note that this is primarily an outdoor event, where most works will be presented outdoors.

Proposals will be accepted for the following categories:

  • Performance
  • Moving image work
  • Workshops for Children and Adults
  • Outdoor artwork
  • Our Earth Rising Salon series – introducing work in progress in the Study (1hour Sessions)

The deadline is soon – 5pm, 12 April 2024.

Event: Earth Rising Eco Festival at IMMA

EARTH RISING is a four-day festival of free events and experiences aimed at addressing the climate crisis and inspiring collective action towards a sustainable and hopeful future. Taking place across the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) site, the festival promises an unforgettable experience that seeks to provoke, inspire, and empower audiences to become agents of change.

The festival programme offers diverse events, including over 50 artists and collaborators who will showcase their work via installations, screenings, workshops, tours, and talks.

Some of the Fibreshed Ireland members will facilitate drop-in spinning, weaving, knitting and natural dyeing demonstrations. Participants will be welcome to try their hands on any of these activities to collaboratively create a tapestry made from Irish-grown fibres and dyes.

The festival runs from the 21 – 24th of September.

Reminder: IMMA’s Earth Rising Eco Festival Application Closes Tomorrow

Earth Rising is a four-day event of eco-related programming showcasing the most exciting innovators in the field of eco-citizen science, design & creativity, empowering audiences to become agents of change. This Eco Festival will occur at IMMA from 21 – 24 September 2023. An Open Call for applications is now open for participating artists. To see last year’s offerings visit HERE.

The application’s deadline is tomorrow, Friday, the 28th of April 2023 , at 5 PM.
