The Homo Faber Fellowship is a yearly seven-month sponsored professional integration programme designed for collaborative duos of master artisans and craft graduates. Participants will develop business and marketing knowledge, as well as design and hands-on practical skills through transmission from one generation to the next.

The Homo Faber Fellowship is presented by Design & Crafts Council Ireland in partnership with the Michelangelo Foundation, powered by the Young Craft Booster and co-funded by European Union.

Opportunity: Fingal Artists’ Support Scheme 2024

Fingal County Council 2024 Artists’ Support Scheme is open for applications. This funding allows professional artists to avail of up to €5,000 of an award towards travel and professional development opportunities, a residency, or towards the development of work.

The award is open to practising artists at all stages of their professional careers in music, visual art, drama, literature, film and dance. Applicants must have been born, have studied, or currently reside in the Fingal administrative area to be eligible to apply.

The funding is for projects or initiatives which will take place between 1st May and 31st December 2024.

Deadline: The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, 1st March 2024, at 4:00pm.

Opportunity: Craft Business Accelerator Programme

The Design & Crafts Council Ireland has launched The Accelerator Programme in partnership with Portal, Trinity College Dublin.

The Accelerator Programme is specifically designed to support small and midsize enterprises (SMEs) in the craft and design industry, helping them tap into international markets by providing essential startup assistance. The course will be delivered in two stages, between March and December 2024, with 20 companies shortlisted for a place on the course.

The DCCI Academy’s Growth Programme is aimed at design and craft companies that are beyond ideation, have been operating for some time, and wish to scale beyond their current position either in the Irish or international markets. A series of training workshops and mentoring that supports growth from start-up to scaling stage.

The course runs from the 1st of February 2024 until the 7th of March 2024.
