Of Interest: Dublin Fibre Festival – Tickets Available

Tickets are now available for this year’s Dublin Fibre Festival, which we are excited to be a part of for its second year! Volunteers from Feltmakers Ireland will share the wonders of feltmaking at the festival.

Additionally, several members* will be showing (and vending) their creations.

When: The 18th of October, from 10 AM to 6 PM.

Where: Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Military Rd, Kilmainham, Dublin 8, D08 FW31

Entrance to the event has designated time slots. If you need to extend your time, please speak with the volunteers upon entry.

In addition to vendors and exhibitors, there are workshops and talks on crochetting, embroidery, weaving, and knitting.

One of our guild members recently visited and found lovely Nunofelted fabrics that she is going to upcycle into her own work!

When: Scrap Store is open 12-4 PM, Thursdays through Sundays.

On Saturday, September 27th, the hours will be from 3-5 PM to accommodate the United Against Racism Carnival.

Of Interest: Felt and Culture Retreat Kyrgyzstan – 2026

Theย Felt and Culture Retreatย will run from the 4th to the 16th of July 2026, and combines felt making, cultural immersion, and travel in Kyrgyzstan.

It is organised by three textile artists, sisters Asel and Kamala Abdykadyrova (local felt masters in Kyrgyzstan), and Nadia Rein, originally from Kazakhstan but based in the UK.

It includes the following – from the website:

  • Eight hands-on workshops with master artisans in felting, natural dyeing, embroidery, and traditional stitching
  • Shared meals in artistsโ€™ homes, where laughter blends with the aroma of home-cooked Kyrgyz dishes

Good Bog, Bad Bog – Collaborative Felting Project – Enniskerry, Co Wicklow

โ€˜Good Bog Bad Bogโ€™ sees wool-based landscape representations of a functioning bog and an eroded one, highlighting the ecological importance of Wicklow’s peatlands, sparking conversation around biodiversity loss, climate resilience and water quality.

This exhibition features felted pieces by Sharon Wells, along with a collaborative community project guided by Sharon. Amongst the artists are guild members Loli Cox and Margaret Ryan Collins.

Using Irish wool sourced from Farmachla in Co Donegal,ย and donated byย @woolstoreireland (another guild member) andย @irishfibrecrafters

Art Exhibition – Sutton, Co Dublin

Guild members Sandra Reynolds and Fiona Leech are amongst the artists who are exhibiting as part of Sow’s Ear Collective at the Bayside Community Centre. โ€œTaking Shapeโ€ is the second group exhibition from the Sowโ€™s Ear Collective, a gathering of multidisciplinary artists working across painting, sculpture, textiles, and more.
