We had a fantastic day last Sunday working with Japanese felt artist Leiko Uchiyama. She is not only very talented but also very generous and shared her wealth of experience with us. She showed us the technique she uses for making some of her pieces, she calls it “pine needles” and is made by laying a fine mesh of wool fibre and gently felting them. We will try out the technique at our next Sunday Session on January 16th 2011 -without Leiko’s skillful guidance.
