Sculpture in Context

Amongst all the interesting sculptural pieces in this year’s Sculpture in Context show in Dublin’s Botanic Gardens are two very different felt pieces. Andrea Cleary  has a magnificent (and enormous) felt sculpture close to the entrance gate and Gina Faustino has a very delicate tiny felt sculpture in the gallery of the visitors center.  Congratulations to both of them.

Sunshine in Autumn

Orange & yellow bird's nest by Sheila Ahern

Orange & yellow bird's nest by Sheila Ahern

Every year at the Knitting & Stitching show in the RDS we decorate the Feltmakers Ireland stand with felt from one or two particular colours. This year we have chosen orange & yellow to bring a bit of sunshine to the autumn (October 28th – 31st). We would love if lots of people would make a piece to go on the stand – it’s not an exhibition more like a display of work from our members and is always a great attraction. The single colour theme make the stand very eye-catching.  We will also be looking for volunteers to help at the stand doing demonstrations and generally chatting to people who are interested in feltmaking. Information will be in your Newsletter which will be going out in the post very shortly – so do get thinking about all things orange and yellow.
