We were looking for a source of wooden hats blocks recently and unable to find exactly what we needed. We challenged instrument maker Eamonn Murray to take on the job of hand carving a suitable block for making felt hats. Eamonn is a very skilled and talented musical instrument maker and very kindly took on the challenge. The result is a work of art in itself.
The block is constructed so that you can alter the size by removing one to four “slices” of wood depending on the size of the hat you are making. The sizes ranges are 56cm, 58cm, 60.5cm, 63cm and 65
I have just put my new block on the mantle piece and it looks more like a work of art that a felters tool. If anyone is interested in getting in touch with Eamonn please let me know and I will pass on his details to you – firstname.lastname@example.org.
