We were looking for a source of wooden hats blocks recently and unable to find exactly what we needed. We challenged instrument maker Eamonn Murray to take on the job of hand carving a suitable block for making felt hats. Eamonn is a very skilled and talented musical instrument maker and very kindly took on the challenge. The result is a work of art in itself.
Wooden Hat Block
The block is constructed so that you can alter the size by removing one to four “slices” of wood depending on the size of the hat you are making. The sizes ranges are 56cm, 58cm, 60.5cm, 63cm and 65
Details of hat block
I have just put my new block on the mantle piece and it looks more like a work of art that a felters tool. If anyone is interested in getting in touch with Eamonn please let me know and I will pass on his details to you – email@example.com.

We are adding another drop-in venue to our diary. Come and join us, & bring your fibres and felting gear. These informal drop-in sessions are a great way to meet fellow felters, to share felting tips and learn new techniques. Show what you have created or maybe be inspired for new creations!

As anyone who has attended our AGM in the past knows we always keep the business element as concise as possible and the fun element as expansive as possible. So this year we have decided to host a felt fashion show. There has been so much activity by members over the past year and so much beautiful new felt work done we thought we should show it off. The AGM takes place in the Parish Centre in Lucan on Sunday 16th May. There will be all the usual events with stalls from all over the country offering supplies for sale, and it’s a great oppertunity to catch up with felt friends and see the Fab Felt Fashio Show. Anyone who wou like to submit pieces for this prestigious event should contact firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange everything.(We will need to details of the pieces submitted at least two weeks before the show – by the 2/5/10) The Fashion pieces can include not just clothes but also bags, rugs…well just about any felt piece. So we hope lots of people participate and even more come and see the show.
