Some of the Irish participants in "Felt in Focus"

You would think the Summer would be a quiet time for Feltmakers…but not so. The committee of Feltmakers Ireland (plus six other enthuastic members) have just returned from a fantastic week of inspiration at the International Felt Symposium “Felt in Focus”  in Denmark. We are planning to put togerther a report from the week with lots of new feltmaking techniques that we learnt. Nicola Brown is hosting a series of workshops  in Co. Carlow with German Feltmaker Sigrid Bannier. The list of topics looks fascinating and as we know from Sigrid’s visit last winter she is an excellent teacher. Please see out “Other Workshops” page for more details see also Nicola’s blog “clasheen” on the list on this page. Feltmakers Ireland are holding a felt festival Féile na Feilte in the Musuem of Country Life in Castlebar on Thursday July 30th (details are in an earlier post below). Roisin Markham will be demonstrating at the Gorey family fun day on August 1st – for more details see http://ballygarrettartstudio.blogspot.com/2009/07/gorey-family-play-day.html . We will also be demonstrating at teh Fáilte Ireland stand at the Dublin Horse Show in the RDS.  The finalists in the RDS craft competition are on display during the Horse Show so if you are in the RDS make sure you don’t miss it. We are also giving a series of workshops in the Arts Centre of the women’s prision for the month of August. On Saturday the 5th of September we will be exhibiting and demonstrating feltmaking at the festival of rare sheep breeds in Gosford Forest Park, Co. Armagh
