| Feltmakers Ireland is a national organisation founded in May 2003 in response to a growing interest in feltmaking. Feltmakers Ireland has received enthuastic support from a very energetic membership which now at 194. Feltmakers Ireland provides workshops, exhibitions and information about feltmaking not only for members but for anyone interested in feltmaking. Four workshops are held every year and are open to anyone to attend. An exhibition of the work of members of Feltmakers Ireland is held every second year and is a showcase for the wealth of skills and talent from our membership.We produce quarterly Newletters with news, reviews and information about Felt Making from around the world as well as the four corners of Ireland. The Newsletter (which is posted out to all members) is an invaluable resource with information about events and suppliers.Feltmakers Ireland is a member of the International Feltmakers Association and is affiliated to the Crafts Council of Ireland.
The new committee members of Feltmakers Ireland for 2008/9 are: Colleen Prendiville (Chairperson) Elizabeth Bonnar ,Sheila Ahern (Secretary), Cristina Garcia Grijalbo, Clodagh MacDonagh, Susan Walsh (Treasurer), Kathrina Hughes (Newsletter Editor), Gina Faustino, Suzanne Phelan, Maureen Cromer, Eleanor Roche and Holly Angle (Membership Secretary), The AGM of the organization is held every year in May. We usually use this opportunity to host a ”Felt Bazar” with a wide range of fibre from Finland, Australia and the UK for sale. There are also stalls with feltmaking equipment for sale and a display of members work. We also invite guest speakers and were delighted to have Sheila Smith (author of “Felt to Stitch” and many other publications about feltmaking) and Úna Parsons (CEO Crafts Council of Ireland).
